SaaS SEO aimedat a demo, not a signup popup.

Integration pages, comparisons, and use-case pages that a sales-assisted motion can actually use.

The short answer

What SaaS SEO is for.

Most B2B software does not win by ranking for a single head term. Buyers search the job, the integration, the competitor comparison, and the use case. SaaS SEO is that map, plus a site that can be crawled and a conversion that is a qualified demo or trial, not an unqualified newsletter. Product-led and sales-assisted motions need different CTAs. We pick one per page.

Buying cycle

A committee, a long list of tabs.

A champion searches, a reviewer searches the comparison, and procurement searches the security page. Those are different URLs. If the only organic page is a feature tour, the reviewer leaves for a competitor who answered the objection.

Cycles of two to six months are normal in mid-market. SEO does not create urgency. It has to be present when the search happens, which means the page needs to stay accurate after the next product release. Decay is a ticket, not a surprise.

Pricing and packaging changes are the silent killer of SaaS pages. A comparison that quotes last year's plan names will get forwarded around a buying committee and then disavowed by sales. The retainer includes a quarterly pass on any page that states a price, a limit, or a competitor capability.

Constraints

Claims, competitors, and docs.

Comparison pages must be true. We do not invent a competitor's price or a missing feature. Security and compliance statements come from your actual posture, not from a keyword list. If legal has to review, the cadence includes that review instead of pretending it will be instant.

  • One primary CTA per page, matched to product-led or sales-assisted.
  • Integration pages only for integrations you support.
  • Docs and marketing pages that do not create two competing URLs for the same query.
  • No gated ebook as the only outcome on a commercial query.

Channels and KPIs

Demo requests and sales-qualified leads.

We report organic demo requests or product-qualified signups, by landing page cluster. Newsletter subscribers are not the KPI. Rankings for a feature term that never produces a conversation get rewritten or consolidated.

  • Organic demos or PQLs per month, non-brand.
  • Assisted pipeline when the CRM can see the first touch.
  • Pages that rank on page two and have no internal links. Those are the edit list.

Mistakes

The blog that never meets sales.

SaaS companies publish thought leadership nobody in sales will send. Meanwhile the integration and comparison queries are unanswered. We interview sales before we add another category to the magazine.

  • No competitor pages you are unwilling to keep updated.
  • No programmatic pages for industries you do not serve.
  • No 'ultimate guide' that hides the product.
  • No SEO tool installed in the head that duplicates tags the CMS already prints.

Example engagement

Mid-market software, sales-assisted.

B2B software company, sales-assisted, a blog with years of posts and almost no pages for the integrations customers asked about on calls. Organic traffic existed. Demo requests from non-brand organic were a handful.

We built the integration and use-case set and cut posts that targeted the same queries. Organic demo requests rose from 9 a month to 16 over two quarters. Newsletter signups were not counted.

Questions

SaaS questions.

Should we write a page for every competitor?

Only for competitors your buyers actually evaluate, and only if you will update the page when they ship. A stale comparison is worse than no page.

Do you do programmatic SEO?

Only when each URL has a distinct search job and real product support. A thousand industry pages with the noun swapped is how sites get a manual action, or just ignored.

What about product-led signup?

Then the KPI is activated signups, not demos. The page still has to match the query. A free trial button on an informational article is not a strategy.

Can GEO and SEO be the same pages?

Often yes. Comparison and definition pages are what answer engines quote. If you want a monitored question set, that is the AI search engagement on top of this one.

How do you work with our PMM team?

They own the claim. We own the query, the outline, and the on-page structure. Nothing that names a customer ships without their approval.

How long until demos move?

New commercial pages in a category you already have some authority in can show demos inside two quarters, as in the example. A new domain should not expect that.
